Some of you may have heard this term when people talk about digital marketing. What is it? Is it a physical funnel used for sales?
Some of you may have seen it for the first time and you may go… ”Ah, it’s just a landing page.” Or is it?
It’s more than just a landing page. It’s a direct marketing system built on the psychology of consumer behaviours to encourage conversion.
In fact, it has been around for decades, except that now the term sales funnels refers to the application on digital platforms. Enough of going round the bush…so how does it work?
The Hook (Grab their attention)
We start off with a hook, either via a paid social media ad, or via a Facebook cover banner to lure your audiences’ attention to a great offer to stop them in their tracks.
The Story (Make them thirsty)
Next you tell them a story. Not just any story, but one which people can relate to emotionally. The emotion changes their state and makes them want to buy.
The Offer (Offer them a drink)
Now that they are keen to buy, offer them an irresistable offer – nope, it is not about slashing crazy prices, it’s about creating value around what they will need besides that one item which you want to sell them. What may their objections be to that particular item you want to sell them? Can you offer help to them around the objections they have, and add on to what else they may need, till they say,”Wow, this is great value for money!”?
Once your audience can see the value you can provide to them, the price is no longer an issue.
All these are not just the works of a technical landing page, but through good copywriting, visuals, the structure and flow of what you tell your audience as they read through your landing page, that leads to a conversion.
Now I hope you have gotten a gist and better idea of what a sales funnel is.
